Xfinity Series Returns to LVMS Twice in 2022; Trucks to be Part of March Tripleheader Weekend Again
|
Las Vegas, NV – October 2021 / Newsmaker Alert / For the fifth consecutive year, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will make two stops at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2022, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series again will kick off a tripleheader of racing action in March.

The Xfinity Series will precede the NASCAR Cup Series races on March 5 with the Alsco Uniforms 300 and Oct. 15 with the Alsco Uniforms 302 in 2022. The lone stop in Las Vegas for the trucks will be Friday, March 4. The speedway announced earlier that the fall event weekend will move three weeks later from its late September date to a mid-October date.

“The Xfinity Series has put on some of the best racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said LVMS President Chris Powell. “We also are thrilled to have the fall race weekend moved three weeks later into October, which will create a much more comfortable climate for the fall playoff events.”

As a result of the shifting of fall dates, a television window is not available that weekend to host the truck series, so that event will move to Sonoma Raceway in June.

“Our loss is Sonoma’s gain, and we’re happy that fans in the wine country will get their first taste of Camping World Truck Series racing in 24 years,” Powell said. “And we know the March truck race will be the beginning of a great weekend of racing, and we’ll have more information in the coming weeks about more events for the October weekend.”

The fall race weekend also will include an ARCA Menards Series West race at the Bullring on Friday night. Race times as well as practice and qualifying schedules will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for both LVMS race weekends are available on the speedway’s LVMS.com.

LVMS Gets Cool New NASCAR Playoff Date in 2022

Change (and cooler temperatures) will be in the air when NASCAR’s Cup Series returns to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2022.

LVMS will host the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube, the debut race of NASCAR’s Next Gen car on a 1.5-mile superspeedway, on March 6. The speedway’s annual fall date, the South Point 400, will be Oct. 16 — three weeks later than past years. The South Point 400 also will be the first race of the final round of the NASCAR Playoffs.

“We’re beyond excited to have these two specific dates next year,” said LVMS President Chris Powell. “We really appreciate everyone who had a hand in moving our playoff event back three weeks. Our fans have clamored for a cooler race date since we were awarded a playoff race. Anyone who has ever been to Las Vegas in October knows it’s one of the most beautiful months of the year here.

“And the Next Gen car has been several years in the making. Knowing the importance of 1.5-mile superspeedways to the season championship, we have great anticipation of seeing the new car on our speedway.”

Companion events, qualifying, practice and start times will all be announced at a later date. Season, weekend and individual race tickets are on sale now at LVMS.com.
