Maine ski area to host 24-Hour Charity Challenge
in March to benefit The River Fund

Newry, ME – February 2019 / Newsmaker Alert / Sunday River will offer 24-hours of skiing and snowboarding for the first annual 24-Hour Charity Challenge on March 16-17, 2019. The event benefits The River Fund, an organization that supports youth enrichment initiatives in the greater Sunday River region.

The 24-Hour Charity Challenge begins on Saturday, March 16 at 9AM, and will go until March 17 at 9AM. Participants can register online as an individual or as a team up to 12 people. Each participant is required to pay a $50 registration fee in addition to fundraising $250 prior to the event. Corporate and sponsor teams are also eligible to register for additional perks.

In the spirit of competition, teams will compete to earn points over the course of the event both on and off the slopes. The top teams will be awarded prizes at the end of the event.

Before the 24-Hour Charity Challenge, participants can actively fundraise for their team. Top fundraisers will be awarded additional points. Participants can also submit up to five receipts from local restaurants for additional points. Each receipt must have a minimum charge of $10 and be dated from February 16 to March 15, 2019. Receipts can come from any of the towns The River Fund supports, which are Newry, Bethel, Greenwood, Woodstock, Andover, Gilead, Hanover, and Rumford.

Participants can attend the pre-event party on Friday night at the Foggy Goggle. Once the countdown begins at the start of the 24-Hour Charity Challenge, team members can participate in activities throughout the event. Off-slope activities range from a Mechanical Unicorn challenge to a Giant Twister challenge. On the slopes, skiers and riders can test their skills in the Dual Giant Slalom race on the Race Arena trail. There will also be a pancake breakfast on Sunday to close the event.
