With
hits like the modern rock radio staples “Santa Monica,” “Everything to
Everyone,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” “Father of Mine,” and “Wonderful,”
Everclear has sold more than nine million albums. Fronted by Art Alexakis,
Everclear remains a potent force on the touring circuit.
Everclear is due to issue
its ninth album, called Black Is The New Black. Alexakis told Newsweek
that the new album is “a return to form, a kind of old-school Everclear
rock record.” The first single, “The Man Who Broke His Own Heart,” is out
now.
Moviegoers may recognize
Alexakis from a cameo role in the movie Wild, which is generating Academy
Awards buzz. He plays a tattoo artist – in real life, both of his arms
are completely tattooed – who gives Reese Witherspoon’s character and her
movie husband matching tattoos to mark their divorce.
“Everclear is a great choice
to kick off the 2015 Great New York State Fair. We’re committed to providing
a diverse and exciting lineup of nationally-known performers again this
year. Our lineup of free performances is second to none and I encourage
people to keep an eye on our schedule this year so they can plan to see
the bands and artists they love,” said Waffner.
Concerts on Chevy
Court are sponsored by Chevrolet.
The New
York State Fair, operated by the New
York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August
27 – September 7, 2015. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s
Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing
top-quality entertainment.
In addition to the annual
New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events
throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious
horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New
York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates
all year. A year-round
schedule of events is available on the Fair’s
website. Find The Great New
York State Fair on Facebook, follow @NYSFair
on Twitter, and enjoy photos from the Fair at Flickr.com/photos/nysfair.
