Syracuse,
NY – March 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The man behind timeless
hits like “Jessie’s Girl” and “I’ve Done Everything For You” returns to
the Great New York State Fair August
27, 2015. Australian musician and singer-songwriter Rick Springfield takes
the stage for what is expected to be a stellar opening night with his legendary
rock heavy, high energy full band sets, Acting Director Troy Waffner announced.
With 25 million records sold,
a Grammy® Award for his No. 1 smash-hit “Jessie’s Girl”, and a whopping
17 Top-40 hits, including “Don’t Talk to Strangers”, “An Affair of the
Heart”, “I’ve Done Everything for You”, “Love Somebody,” and “Human Touch”,
Springfield has no intention of taking his foot off the accelerator. “I
put everything I’ve got into making records,” he says. “Sometimes people
think they have you pegged but I trust my music will show them otherwise.”
In early 2013, Springfield
collaborated with The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on the song, “The Man That
Never Was”, for the Sound City soundtrack, “Sound City: Real to Reel”.
At the 2014 Grammy Awards the album won for Best Compilation Soundtrack
for Visual Media. In May 2014, Springfield’s first novel, “Magnificent
Vibration” was released, marking his second publication on the New York
Times Bestsellers List and he was honored with a star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame. Springfield will be seen next co-starring with Meryl Streep
and Kevin Klein in the Tristar film “Ricki And The Flash” in the summer
of 2015.
“I can’t think of a better
way to kick off the 2014 Great New York State Fair than with Rick Springfield.
It’s going to be a great show, and it demonstrates that we’re serious about
once again presenting the best lineup of free shows in America,” said Waffner.
Springfield performed at
the State Fair Grandstand in 1985 and on Chevy Court in 2004 and 2009.
