Syracuse, NY – March 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / One of the all-time greatest bands in rock history will help bring the 2016 Great New York State Fair to a close, as Chicago performs at 6 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 5, at Chevy Court, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced. All performances by national touring groups at Chevy Court are free with admission to the Fair.

In Billboard Magazine’s recent Hot 200 All-Time Top Artists, Chicago came in at #9, the highest ranking American band. Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six decades. Chicago’s album, “Chicago Transit Authority,” was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2014. Total record sales top the 100 million mark, an incredible 25 of the band’s 36 albums have been certified platinum, and the band has earned 47 gold and platinum awards.

Chicago’s signature sound - what the band has always described as “a rock and roll band with horns” - is alive and well into the band’s fifth decade. In April, Chicago will finally get its due when the band and its founding members are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This will be Chicago’s first appearance at the Fair in 26 years and its fourth appearance overall. Chicago’s appearance takes place on the Fair’s final day, Labor Day, when admission will be just $1 and all rides on the Wade Shows Midway will be $1.

“We are truly excited to have performers of the stature of Chicago here to send the 2016 Fair out on a high note. They are one of the greatest groups of all time and I know this will be a show that will make wonderful memories for everyone. And you’ll never see a group this great for less,” said Waffner.

At the same time, Waffner announced several other performances that will take place at Chevy Court. They are:

Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers, Sunday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.
Hornsby achieved fame with his band, The Range, and the hit songs “(That’s Just) The Way It Is,” “Mandolin Rain,” and “The Valley Road.” He has also toured as part of The Grateful Dead and some of the legendary band’s reunion tours. This will be his first-ever appearance at the Fair.

Air Supply, Sunday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m.
The Australian soft rock duo struck gold starting in 1980 with “Lost in Love,” and charted seven more singles into the top 5 positions of the Billboard pop charts. This will mark the group’s fifth appearance at the Fair, and the first since 1995.

Herman’s Hermits return for a Senior Day performance, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m.
Peter Noone remains as popular as the first time he appeared at the Fair, in 1991, behind classic singles such as “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” and “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat.”

Survivor, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m.
The 80’s rock outfit’s iconic song “Eye of the Tiger” has never gone out of style. Lead vocalist Dave Bickler’s group makes its second appearance at the Fair and its first appearance since 2000.The Commodores, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m.

The Commodores, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m.
For more than a decade, the Commodores put soul and funk into records that hit the top of the charts, such as “Brick House” and “Three Times a Lady.” The band is a favorite of fairgoers, as they will make their sixth appearance.

Macy Gray, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.
The soul and R&B singer behind the hit “I Try” continues to record her own music and appear on collaborations with many other artists. This will be her first appearance ever at the Fair.

Chevy Court’s 23 free shows are part of the Fair’s commitment to providing the best and most diverse lineup of music available. Each year, the Fair and its vendors provide approximately 500 free musical performances. Concerts at Chevy Court are sponsored by Chevrolet.
