Syracuse,
NY – April 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / The rock group Toto will
bring its massive hits and some new music to the Chevy
Court stage at the Great New York
State Fair for its performance at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, Acting Fair
Director Troy Waffner announced Thursday (April 21).
Toto’s top 10 hits “Africa,”
“Rosanna,” and “Hold The Line” helped to define its era of music. The members
of Toto, accomplished studio musicians before forming the band, can be
heard on more than 5,000 albums that have sold more than half a billion
copies and drew more than 225 Grammy nominations. “Africa” has remained
current via pop culture, appearing in the TV show Family Guy and in a skit
on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show that has been seen several million times
online, among others. Toto’s latest album, 2015’s “Toto XIV,” is the band’s
first new music in nearly a decade.
“We’ve tried several times
to get Toto here since their last – and only – appearance in 2005 and we’re
thrilled we can make this happen this year. This will be a terrific show
and a fun way to spend Friday night at the Fair,” said Waffner.
