Syracuse,
NY – May 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Rapper Flo Rida, whose string
of #1 hits spans a decade, will perform at Chevy
Court at the Great New York State
Fair Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m., Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner
announced Thursday (April 28). That day is the second Three Dollar Thursday,
when admission to the Fair is just $3.
Over the last several years,
Flo Rida has pulled off a pretty neat trick. Not only has the Florida-born
rapper become a chart fixture thanks to the blockbuster singles “Low (feat.
T-Pain),” “Right Round,” “Club Can’t Handle Me,” and his most recent chart-topping
hits, “Good Feeling” and “Wild Ones (feat. Sia),” he’s also broken down
barriers by uniting millions of fans of pop, hip-hop, and club music around
the world and establishing himself as an international, genre-busting superstar
in the process.
Born Tramar Dillard, Flo
Rida was raised by a single mother in Miami’s rough neighborhood of Carol
City. “My mother instilled in us that you could be from the ghetto, but
you don’t have to be of it,” he said. “I decided to be a leader and do
more positive things.” His father was a talented musician who encouraged
his son to express himself through music. Now, Flo Rida has his own label
in order to encourage another generation of musicians, and has created
two charities aimed at improving the lives of inner city youngsters.
“We’re very excited to be
able to bring Flo Rida here this year. He likes to say he’s the life of
the party and I know his fans are going to show him exactly what a party
looks like at the Great New York State Fair,” said Waffner.
