Margaret Mitchell Joins Zombies in Atlanta

Hundreds of movies and TV shows have been filmed in and around Atlanta, including “Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” “The Blind Side,” “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” “The Change-Up,” “Kalifornia” and “Driving Miss Daisy.” Sites from these movies and others – Tyler Perry’s “Good Deeds” and “Witness Protection” and a sports smorgasbord including “Trouble with the Curve,” “Remember the Titans” and “We Are Marshall” – may be seen on AMT’s Atlanta Film Sites Tour. The newest tour lets visitors travel with Margaret Mitchell and hear the story of “Gone With the Wind” as only she can tell it.

Describing Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind Tour as “a Broadway play on wheels”(wheels referring to the 30-passenger luxury touring vans), Patti Davis, Head Television Fanatic and co-founder of the three-year-old Atlanta Movie Tours, promises it will satisfy even the most ardent Gone With the Wind fan.

“You’ll see Atlanta through Margaret’s eyes,” she says. “Sally Smith is a one-woman tour de force.”

Learn about Margaret’s life and how the South’s most beloved novel was shared with the world. Walk with her as she traces her own footsteps to The Margaret Mitchell House where she wrote her masterpiece, the library that has her old Remington typewriter and her final resting place.

Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind Tour joins the company’s popular lineup, including Big Zombie Tours, Part 1 and Part 2. On these, “The Walking Dead” fans journey to the hospital where it all began and to the Goat Farm (a fan favorite) to see firsthand where the Vatos held camp. Zombie wannabes can even test their strength at the Zombie Arena. Leading the way? A movie extra from either “The Walking Dead” or “Zombieland.”

Atlanta Movie Tours gives visitors a front-row seat to Hollywood’s backlot in Georgia – where 142 feature films and television projects were produced in 2013 alone – to bring the rich film history of the Atlanta area alive. Aboard the coach, fans watch film clips of the movie locales they will then see “in action” to enhance the experience of visiting where pivotal scenes were shot.

Tour guides are experienced actors who have appeared on the sets of these movies or, in the case of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind, are completely immersed in the character. Their behind-the-scenes stories, fun facts and movie trivia give a glimpse of Hollywood you won’t experience anywhere else.

To learn more about Atlanta Movie Tours’ Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind Tour, the Atlanta Film Sites Tour and the Big Zombie Tours Part 1 and Part 2, visit www.AtlantaMovieTours.com.
