Back To News/PR Index | | The New Augustan Magazine Wins Industry Award | CVB-produced publication named 2016 Best Collateral Materials by the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus || | “We are so very honored to have won this award for The New Augustan magazine,” said Barry White, ACVB President and CEO. “We know Augusta has some great stories to tell and we’re so delighted that our colleagues love the first edition as much as we do.” The New Augustan features stories of Augusta’s River Region, which encompasses Augusta, Aiken, Columbia County, Edgefield and North Augusta. It is the authority on the distinctive style of Southern life, offering an on-going narrative of her charm and energy, and giving readers a novel look into the area’s history and culture. Community members have responded positively to the new magazine. Said Winnie Smith, of the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts at the University of Georgia, “The New Augustan magazine is a refreshing representation of a Georgia city we can be proud of. With thick pages, professional photography, and limited ads, it really highlights the local arts and top-notch restaurants, which make for a delightful travel destination or place to call home. The New Augustan is a beautiful showcase of the best of what Augusta has to offer.” The publication offers stirring narrations of the diverse places and personalities that make Augusta and Augusta’s River Region so captivating with a primary objective of inspiring people from outside the area to visit, capturing potential visitors in the “dreaming” phase of the travel decision-making cycle. The secondary objective is to inspire residents to get out and explore their community. Whitney Civitarese, local Augustan and part of Blanchard & Calhoun Realtors shared, “I happened upon your office’s lovely new publication called The New Augustan in the Kroger on Washington Road and I absolutely loved it! It was beautifully designed, excellent choice of paper stock, and just a delight to read. Definitely coffee table book quality…” The magazine is dedicated to the bright memory of ACVB employee, Peggy Seigler, an integral part of the ACVB team who lost her life after a long fought battle with cancer in 2015. “Peggy was a creative and innovative tourism professional with a passion for Augusta and its tourism industry. She was instrumental in developing the concept for the magazine so it seemed appropriate to dedicate the inaugural issue to her memory,” said White.
