New York, NY – January 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Berkadia, an industry leading commercial real estate company, announces the hiring of three senior hospitality executives to its Hotels & Hospitality Group: Managing Directors John J. DePaul, David Weymer and Mark Morris. Each brings experience and knowledge that strengthens Berkadia as a preferred, one-partner hospitality solution. Commercial real estate clients will now have access to multiple real estate solutions for the entire life cycle of their assets, including mortgage banking, investment sales, capital markets and asset management & advisory services.

In April 2015, Andrew Coleman was named senior managing director and head of the newly formed Hotels & Hospitality Group. He joined Berkadia from Walker & Dunlop with over 25 years of hospitality lending experience.

“Prospective clients in the hotels & hospitality sector expressed the need for integrated finance solutions, which is why we hired Andrew last year to lead our efforts in the space,” said Ernest Katai, executive vice president and head of production at Berkadia. “By adding John, Dave and Mark, three of the most well-known and respected hospitality professionals in the industry, we’re showing our continued commitment to expanding our platform and becoming a leader in the space.”

DePaul will be responsible for the capital markets and asset management & advisory functions of the platform. Based in Ambler, Pennsylvania, his primary focus will be to source equity for Berkadia’s clients and oversee the operations of the group under the direction of Coleman. In his 35 years of experience, DePaul has advised, acquired or managed assets in excess aggregate value of $5 billion. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of strategic advisory & asset management with Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotels & Hospitality Group in New York City, where his team was the highest revenue producing office for the company. DePaul received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Philadelphia University.

Weymer and Morris will be responsible for the investment sales function of the platform, based in Washington, D.C. Weymer brings 30 years of hospitality, commercial real estate and legal experience to Berkadia from some of the industry’s most highly regarded hotel real estate funds. He joins from Lantern Realty Advisors, where he represented clients in an advisory and legal capacity on multiple transactions aggregating over $1 billion from 2012-2015. Previously, he held senior principal positions at Noble Investments and Thayer Lodging Group. Weymer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and is a licensed attorney.

Morris also has 30 years of industry experience holding senior roles in several prominent firms, most recently serving as senior vice president at Hunter Hotel Advisors. He brings to Berkadia a team of investment sales professionals, which will include John Testerman and Matt Bailly. Morris has successfully structured and completed hotel sales transactions totaling more than $3.5 billion in North America, with a focus in the Mid-Atlantic region. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Syracuse University and is credentialed as a Certified Hotel Broker (CHB) through the Hotel School of Cornell University.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have John, Dave and Mark join our team,” said Coleman. “With their experience, we now offer all disciplines in the field of Hotels & Hospitality real estate services: mortgage banking, investment sales, capital markets and asset management & advisory. We will enhance our client’s competitive position and provide them with the best and most productive experience in our industry, all with the same Berkadia style of team work and inclusion that clients have come to expect.”
