Miami Travel Agent Forum
TAKEOFF Talk panel during Monday’s lunch was a huge hit with agents,
where Growology’s Matthew David led an inspiring series of interviews with
CCRA’s Dic Marxen, Margie Jordan, and King of Miami, David Grutman. Dic
Marxen and Margie Jordan kicked things off with motivating discussions
about their starts, roles and how they foresee the future of the travel
industry. Grutman later discussed his humble beginnings as an entrepreneur
and how he has managed to build hugely successful businesses throughout
the industry. Grutman went on to say that his claim to fame was partly
due to his focus on taking care of customers as soon as they step foot
in the door.
panel “YOU, the event planner” hosted by Maggie Fischer and Stacey
Tarr were joined by Mark C. Howard of Advantage Destination & Meeting
Services to share ideas and ways agents can hold local events to boost
their business. Our second panel hosted by Brian Albano, “Tapping Into
Domestic CVB’s for Maximum Sales” with Caitlan Etchevers from the Greater
Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, Nicole Krekeler of Experience
Scottsdale, and John Meyer of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The panel talked about the advantages of properly working with CVB partners.
highlight of the event was our Journey Through Latin America luncheon,
where we welcomed 15 of Mexico’s leading suppliers to talk about the concerns
or obstacles travel agents face when selling Mexico. The agents loved hearing
what they had to say, not just because they are experts, but because they
like to give a special thank you to those suppliers who participated in
Blog for photos and a complete event recap.
