Cowboy Chicken Signs Largest Franchise Deal to DateOwner and operations partners Kevin Roche and Phil Fontes, joined with Cal Capitol Investment Group, Daniel and Doug Shaffer, to bring the growing brand to the Golden State. Roche, an industry veteran and California native, experienced Cowboy Chicken in Texas while at lunch with a friend. He loved the great food and the friendly atmosphere. He knew that with the right partners, he could bring Cowboy Chicken to California. While no locations have been signed at this moment, the group has an aggressive plan to pursue the best locations in all of the top markets, including their own back yard in the central valley. Construction plans are set to begin in early 2017.

Cowboy Chicken has experienced extreme growth over the last several years, and with the recent introduction of updated branding and a new restaurant prototype the company is excited to close this deal bringing them to California and making them a “coast to coast” brand. Cowboy Chicken currently has signed franchise agreements to develop 96 new restaurants across the U.S., including California. By the end of 2016, its unit count will be 23 restaurants in six states, including the new restaurants under construction in Atlanta, GA and Oklahoma City, OK.

“Cowboy Chicken’s culture is rooted in honest family values that you can feel in our restaurants, taste in our food, and feel from our staff members. We work hard, we love what we do, and we strive to exceed our guests’ expectations. We are excited to work with smart, experienced partners like TEXACAL Foods to bring our all-natural wood fire rotisserie chicken to the people of California” said Cowboy Chicken President and CEO, Sean Kennedy.

For over 35 years, Cowboy Chicken has been cooking all-natural chicken over a wood-burning fire. Guests will enjoy the same wood fire rotisserie chicken along with signature sour-cream-tomatillo enchiladas and abundant home-style sides. With a ‘cowboy cool’ culture and dedication to guests and communities, Cowboy Chicken aims to exceed the expectations of guests each and every time they visit. The warmth and comfort of that culture are at the heart of everything at Cowboy Chicken. The same respect and passion are experienced in the bold flavors of all-natural wood fire rotisserie chicken, the selection of wholesome ingredients and the handcrafted preparations of meals. It’s called honest food, and it’s what keeps friends and family coming back for more.
