Boston, MA – June 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / CEO of Delaware North Boston Holdings, Charlie Jacobs, announced Monday, June 13, that the Boston Bruins Foundation donated over $2.3 million to New England charities over this past year. $550,000 was recently granted during the Bruins’ 2016 grant cycle (July 2015 to June 2016) to over 100 charitable organizations in New England. Organizations receiving grants are aligned with the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life for children throughout New England in numerous capacities.

“Giving back to New England is the most important component of the Boston Bruins culture and identity,” Jacobs said. “As leaders in the hockey community, it is our obligation to assist children all over New England through a variety of organizations. It is a responsibility we take very seriously, which coincides with our efforts to continuously grow the Foundation to broaden our impact.”

Highlights from the past year include a $300,000 donation to the Denna Laing Fund in support of Denna Laing, a Boston Pride forward who sustained a significant spinal injury during the Outdoor Women’s Classic at Gillette Stadium on December 31 and a $45,000 donation to the FRAXA Research Foundation as the culmination of a two-year $90,000 grant. The Boston Bruins Foundation will also be donating $450,000 to Boston Children’s Hospital as a result of the 2016 Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am.

Since its inception in 2003, the Boston Bruins Foundation has raised over $24.5 million dollars.

The Boston Bruins Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that assists charitable organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children throughout New England. The Foundation provides grants to organizations that meet the standards of its mission, concentrating on academics, athletics, community outreach and health. We believe that focusing and developing these four areas in children’s lives creates a solid foundation, strong support system and ultimately leads them to be an impactful member of their community.
