his 1000th career win at Finger
Lakes Gaming and Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday, July 18. He reached the
milestone when Chickaletta scored a one length victory in the first race.
The 37-year-old from San
Juan, Puerto Rico began his career in 1997 at FLGR. He was the FLGR top
apprentice his first year with a total of 35 victories.
Davila’s most memorable triumph
was aboard Shesastonecoldfox in the $137,900 New York Breeders’ Futurity
in 2001. He guided the New York-bred filly to the one and three-quarter
length victory against male rivals.
Davila has been resilient
throughout his career and returned to competitive action after numerous
injuries. He reached the significant win mark with his 8,057th lifetime
mount.
“I’m thankful for the trainers
to help me keep going,” said Davila. “I just have to keep moving forward.”
Davila registered 945 of
his 1,000 wins at FLGR. He is currently tied for third in the 2016 local
rider standings with 42 wins.
