Michael Davila Earns 1,000th Career Win
|
Farmington, NY – July 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Jockey Michael Davila, Jr. notched his 1000th career win at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday, July 18. He reached the milestone when Chickaletta scored a one length victory in the first race.

The 37-year-old from San Juan, Puerto Rico began his career in 1997 at FLGR. He was the FLGR top apprentice his first year with a total of 35 victories.

Davila’s most memorable triumph was aboard Shesastonecoldfox in the $137,900 New York Breeders’ Futurity in 2001. He guided the New York-bred filly to the one and three-quarter length victory against male rivals.

Davila has been resilient throughout his career and returned to competitive action after numerous injuries. He reached the significant win mark with his 8,057th lifetime mount.

“I’m thankful for the trainers to help me keep going,” said Davila. “I just have to keep moving forward.”

Davila registered 945 of his 1,000 wins at FLGR. He is currently tied for third in the 2016 local rider standings with 42 wins.
