Farmington, NY – July 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Super Allison outbattled Mecke’s Madelyn to earn a narrow victory in the 44th running of the $75,000 New York Oaks at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Saturday (July 23). The bay filly earner ridden by Jacqueline Davis covered the one mile and one-sixteenth route for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies in a final time of 1:46.79.

The stretch duel was a memorable one between Davis and Tammi Piermarini. The two elite female jockeys decided the event and were excited to compete against eachother. “The race meant a lot to me because it was against Tammi (Piermarini) who I rode behind,” said Davis after the seventh race.

Super Allison recorded her third victory in her eighth lifetime start. The Carlos Martin-trainee owned by Mathew Schera improved her lifetime earnings to a sum of $145,434 and paid $7.30, $4.40 and $2.50. Mecke’s Madalyn was second by a head and returned $10.20 and $4.50. Katmiss the Victor rallied for third after trouble on the turn and paid $2.10.

New York Derby
Hit It Once More was a runaway winner of the $164,150 New York Derby. The $205,202 earner trained by Gary Sciacca scored the gate-to-wire victory by a margin of six and one-half lengths. The bay colt owned by August Dawn Farm completed the one mile and one-sixteenth route in a time of 1:43.02. He was directed to the sixth race victory by Kendrick Carmouche.

“This was good for me because it was my first time winning at Finger Lakes,” said Carmouche. “Nobody pressed him and he had a lot left.”

Hit It Once More registered his third career victory and paid $5.00, $3.10 and $2.50. Extinct Charm returned $3.10 and $2.40 for finishing second and Taoiseach rallied to be third and paid $4.90.

Older New York-bred fillies and mares will travel the one mile and one-sixteenth distance in the next black-type event on the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack live racing calendar. The $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes is scheduled for Monday, August 15.
