Delaware North Celebrates Completion of 25 New Cottages on Lake Erie
|
Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH – June 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Delaware North executives were joined Thursday (June 16) by Ashtabula County and other public officials for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of 25 new cottages at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, the destination resort on Lake Erie in Ohio that the company has operated for the county since 2004.

The cottages, a $4 million public-private project through a partnership between Ashtabula County, Delaware North and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, are set for a sold-out opening on June 24 after some finishing touches to the exterior grounds are completed.

“You can’t do anything without a great partnership, and with Delaware North – we love working with them,” Ashtabula County Commissioner Peggy Carlo said at the ceremony.

Actual construction work only began in March. The cottages were conceived by Delaware North based on the hugely successful Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone that the company developed and opened in 2013 near Yellowstone National Park.

“The Ashtabula County commissioners really envisioned this project with us from the onset and were with us step by step,” said Mike Phillips, chief operating officer of Delaware North’s parks and resorts business. “On behalf of Delaware North and the Jacobs family, I want to thank the county, Ohio DNR, the Village of Geneva-on-the-Lake and local business and tourism officials for their partnership and support.”

The cottages are located on adjacent lakefront property east of the lodge. The two-bedroom, one-bath units offer a king master bedroom and second queen bedroom. With more than 600 square feet of living space, each spacious cottage can accommodate up to six guests and includes a living room with panoramic picture windows, foldout sofa, gas fireplace, and flat screen TV. All cottages also feature a kitchenette with mini-refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher and porches with Adirondack chairs. An ADA compliant cottage is also available with accommodations for guests with accessibility needs.

Each cluster of cottages will share a community area and fire pit, serving as a perfect focal point for engaging with family and friends.

Cottage guests will enjoy all the benefits of staying at The Lodge with full access to its amenities, including the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs; bicycle, snowshoe and ski equipment usage; discounts on regular priced wine shuttle tickets; Wi-Fi (high speed internet) in cottages and public areas; full access to a 24-hour fitness room; live weekend entertainment; guided treks and more.

Eric Frantz, general manager for Delaware North at the lodge, said 1,400 cottage nights have already been booked through September.

“The cottages offer the serenity of the lake, a way for families to stay together, and the feeling of community when cottages are clustered around shared fire pits,” he said.
