Melbourne, AU – September 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / September school holidays on Heron Island just got a lot more interesting as the Junior Rangers program has been expanded to be more experiential and immersive into the natural wonderland that exists on, in and around the island and its pristine waters. There are now two options for children ages 6 to 12: the original 1 1/2-hour Junior Rangers program and the new Junior Rangers Plus. Guests can pre-book these sessions with the resort.

Junior Rangers Plus Activities

This new 4 1/2-hour program will take the children on an interactive and hands on journey to explore, experience and gain a greater understanding of the intricate and simply beautiful eco-system of Heron Island. Experiences will include:

  • Reef walks and tours
  • Visits to the world renowned Research Station – where touch tank activities take the children to the heart of some of the Great Barrier Reef’s flora and fauna.
  • Fish feeding – the local fish are friendly, fun and HUGE
  • Evening plankton workshops and astronomy star gazing
  • Special “Junior Rangers” ONLY trip out to the reef on the Heron Island I SPY semi-sub
