Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack hosted the Celebrity Goliath Burger Challenge
on February 12, 2014.
Participating celebrities were WTRF sports anchor Mike Anthony, Ohio County Commissioner Tim McCormick, Mix 97.3’s Jim Conner, 1170 WWVA’s Bloomdaddy and 98.7 WOVK’s Steve Crow. The exciting event was held in the Wheeling Island Food Court and the celebrities stepped up to the plate for their local charities. Each challenger had 45 minutes
to conquer a 6.5 pound platter made up of a 5 pound 12-patty burger, 9
inch bun, 1.5 lbs. of French fries, soda and pickle.
WOVK 98.7’s Steve Crow (L) crowned victorious, shown with Wheeling Island's President and General Manager, Osi Imomoh. The celebrities were no match for the giant Goliath burger but, Steve Crow was crowned victorious after the final weigh-in of leftovers showing he ate 4.49 pounds and his charity, Marshall County Relay For Life, receives a $500 donation. As a special thank you for the remaining challengers, Wheeling Island will also make $200 donations to the local charities below.
