Several
U.S. Forest Service Campgrounds in
North
Carolina Open in March

Asheville,
NC – March 2017 / Newsmaker Alert / Several U.S. Forest Service campgrounds
in North Carolina are now open or will open later this month.

A
few additional facilities will open later this spring but many other sites
are open year round.
In
some cases, campsites can be reserved in advance at www.recreation.gov.
Amenities and fees vary from site to site. Details are available at www.fs.usda.gov/activity/nfsnc/recreation/camping-cabins.
Holders
of the Interagency Senior and Access, Golden Age and Access Pass receive
a fifty percent discount on their camping fee for single family campsites.
The discount does not include fees for hookups, such as sewer or electrical,
nor does it include double or larger campsites.

All recreation
sites on the Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest
will open March 31. On the Nantahala National Forest, campgrounds on the
Nantahala and Cheoah Ranger Districts open in April and on the Tusquitee
Ranger District in May.
