Back To News/PR Index | | Florida State Selects Global Spectrum to Manage Donald L. Tucker Civic Center | In working with Global Spectrum – which manages and operates more than 120 public assembly facilities throughout the world – Florida State will benefit from the company’s expertise in operational best practices, marketing and the booking of high-caliber entertainment. In Florida, Global Spectrum operates four arenas and two convention centers, including the BankUnited Center on the campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables; the Sundome on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa; and the CFE Center on the campus of the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Global Spectrum is the largest operator and manager of university facilities. In addition to the Florida venues, the company also operates the Colonial Life Arena on the campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.; Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.; and the Ryan Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I., to name a few. “Global Spectrum has the breadth and scope of unique experience to not only manage the Civic Center, but to also enhance this venue for the benefit of the community and student athletic competitions,” said Kyle Clark, vice president for Finance and Administration at Florida State. “Florida State University’s selection of Global Spectrum ensures that the Tucker Center will continue to thrive as a place where great memories are made.” Florida State’s multi-year contract with Global Spectrum gives the company responsibility over the planning, services, operations and management of the Tucker Center and its staff operations, including the booking and managing of sporting events, entertainment, conferences and other activities, as well as provisions for venue enablement, ticketing and marketing-technology solutions. “We are excited to have been selected by Florida State University to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tucker Center,” said Global Spectrum President John Page. “We are looking forward to bringing our high-level of customer service, as well as our outstanding marketing and partnerships to the residents of Tallahassee and the Florida State University campus. We can’t wait to begin creating new and exciting opportunities for the region. Combined with our numerous Florida facilities, we see tremendous advantages for Florida State University to be partnering with Global Spectrum.” In June 2012, the Florida State University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to acquire the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. In July 2012, Florida State entered into a one-year lease with the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center Authority to operate the facility. That same year, the facility’s name reverted back to its original – the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, named for the former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. In July 2013, House Bill 1285 dissolved the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center Authority, transferring the facility’s ownership to Florida State. About
