Food Hub works to restore local food distribution by building a regional
food system for North Lake Tahoe, and High Fives Foundation is dedicated
to raising injury prevention awareness and providing rehabilitation for
mountain sport enthusiasts. Both organizations have a strong presence within
the Tahoe community.
The campaign kicked off in The Village at Squaw Valley with, “Breakfast of Champions,” which included an oatmeal bar and educating the public about locally sourced food resources and the importance of wearing a helmet. The event was broadcasted on the local ABC affiliate KOLO8 and garnered hundreds of community members signing up onsite and thousands more engaged online to show support for the non-profits. For every sign up Grand Pacific Resorts donated $3 to High Fives Foundation and Tahoe Food Hub, and also entered supporters to win a grand prize of a two night stay at Red Wolf Lodge at Squaw Valley and lift tickets, along with many other prizes including SMITH optics helmets and merchandise from participating non-profits. “We share a common goal with Tahoe Food Hub and High Fives Foundation in our similar commitments to creating happy families through healthy living. From taking vacations to eating locally produced nutritious meals along with safe adventures on the mountain to support physical well-being and confidence, this campaign was an integrated look at the benefits of leading a balanced life. It’s an incredible opportunity to use our marketing dollars to team up with charitable organizations in a community we’re so proud to be part of,” said Renee Wagner, Director of Creative Services & Brand Management of Grand Pacific Resorts. “We watch families visit our mountain resorts year-round and we hope through these partnerships we can have fun while still educating our guests about healthy lifestyles so they can continue to come back and vacation with us year-after-year.” With a limited budget and utilizing the social media reach of all organizations involved, the innovative campaign resonated with the public, reaching over 80,000 people online and garnering over 100,000 overall video views, helping raise a total of $3,000 for Tahoe Food Hub and High Fives Foundation and producing hundreds of new followers along with dozens of new vacationers to Lake Tahoe.
