New Coachella Valley Beer Week Showcases Local Breweries
and Greater Palm Springs’ Growing Craft Beer Scene
|
Greater Palm Springs, CA – October 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / An exciting new event is on tap in Greater Palm Springs this upcoming November – The First Annual Coachella Valley Beer Week (CVBW) set to take place November 12 - November 22, 2015 at various venues throughout our nine-city resort destination.

CVBW is the brainchild of Erin Peters and Brent “Schmidy” Schmidman, both connoisseurs of the region’s craft beer scene. Peters aka “The Beer Goddess” has been regularly blogging about craft breweries since 2008. Schmidman, a self-confessed beer geek and former tavern owner, has been integral to the growth of the craft beer culture in Greater Palm Springs, introducing patrons to high quality craft beers, holding the Valley’s first sanctioned homebrewer’s competition, and starting the area’s well-known “Beer School”.

New Coachella Valley Beer Week Showcases Local Breweries and Greater Palm Springs' Growing Craft Beer Scene“Local beer weeks celebrate the culture and community of craft beers and brewers,” said Peters. “Beer Weeks give the beer lover a chance to taste a variety of rare and new beers, meet area brewmasters, and hang out with fellow beer drinkers. Often there are discounts on local beers, specialty cask tappings, meet the brewers, beer pairings and dinners, block parties, new beer releases and more! When an entire city—or several in this case—celebrates the craft beer revolution simultaneously, it’s even more powerful and has tremendous effects on growing craft beer communities and market share across the county. “And it’s time that the Coachella Valley had a week all its own.”

The inaugural Coachella Valley Beer Week kicks off on November 13 with the Beer Goddess Brewmasters Dinner where beer buffs can rub shoulders with favorite brewers during an entertaining tasting/culinary event at the Purple Room Restaurant in Palm Springs.

On November 14, the Indio BBQ & Beer Competition at the Indio Golf Course features professional pit masters vying for a cash prize, and a “King of the Desert” contest for local backyard grillers. That same day, festival goers are invited to the Coachella Valley Brewing Company to experience the brewery’s “Below Sea Level” Hi Low Beer release, an Imperial Blonde Stout now a contender for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Beer and culinary festivities throughout the week also include a fun, progressive beer crawl throughout Palm Springs on the city’s popular Buzz trolley line, sushi and beer dinner at Gyoro Gyoro Izakaya Japonaise, two separate nights of barrel tastings at Eureka! in Indian Wells, Brewmasters Shotgun Golf Tournament at the scenic Escena Golf Club in Palm Springs, live music with Caxton and live ale from three local breweries at the popular Tack Room Tavern at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and more beer tasting adventures.

Coachella Valley Beer Week culminates with the November 21 Props & Hops Craft Beer Festival at the Palm Springs Air Museum – a one-of-a-kind experience featuring more than 30 craft breweries, great food, live music and vintage plane flybys.

In addition to craft beer from local breweries, CVBW will also feature selections from other Southern California breweries.
