Back To News/PR Index | | Guest Services Tapped to Manage The Inn at Wise | Located in the town of Wise in scenic Southwest Virginia, the Inn was originally built in 1910 and is a classic example of the Colonial Revival style. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, but has been closed since 1993. Now undergoing extensive renovations, the Inn is slated to contain 49 moderately priced guest rooms. Additionally, a 100-seat dining room is planned, as are a 1950s-style diner and a 25-seat Tap Room that will offer a selection of micro-brews, and a conference center with a capacity of 120 people. The Inn will provide lodging and food service for parents, prospective students and other visitors to the University of Virginia, Wise Campus. The Inn also presents a potential boost to tourism revenues due to the fact that it is along the Crooked Road, Virginia’s 330-mile Heritage Music Trail that connects nine major venues and more than 60 affiliated venues and festivals that visitors can enjoy year ‘round. The goal of the IDA is to develop the Inn as a heritage-based destination attraction reflecting Appalachian culture, music and heritage that will create regional economic development opportunities and enhance the tourism potential for the entire region. Guest Services is ideally suited to partner with the IDA in the development and management of the Inn; the company already has a strong presence in Southwest Virginia due to its management of Heartwood Artisan Gateway in Abingdon.
