The View Restaurant at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa Earns Enhanced Wine Spectator Restaurant Award in 2018This marks the 19th consecutive year that the AAA Four Diamond dining establishment has appeared on the prestigious Wine Spectator list, and the first time for its two-glass designation, symbolic of the Best of Award of Excellence. Only 1,215 such awards were issued worldwide for 2018.

“This year’s class of restaurants is one of the most impressive and innovative ever,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “Their wine lists keep improving, because wine lovers are eager to explore and learn. The goal of our Restaurant Awards is to support restaurant wine programs and bring them to diners’ attention through our outreach through print, digital and social media. Wine Spectator salutes every restaurant honored in the 2018 Restaurant Awards.”

In receiving the two-glass honor, The View began by refreshing its selection to now include nearly 500 domestic and international wines.

“We also looked at other improvements,” remarked Justin Peregoy, The View’s Wine Director. “We invested in four new wine refrigerators and can now store our selections in five temperature zones. We found it imperative to serve each kind of wine at its appropriate temperature.”

Service presentation is also noteworthy. Here, continued Peregoy, “The View now offers its selections in new glassware, including some of the finest hand-blown crystal for our finest bottle selections.”

Best of Award of Excellence recipients such as The View offer more extensive selections with significant vintage depth and excellent breadth across multiple regions.

“We’re representing more corners of the world,” continued Peregoy. “We carry selections from Slovakia, Lebanon, Greece, Austria, and of course, France and Italy. And we’re very strong with our California reds.”

The complete list of award winners is available in print in Wine Spectator’s August issue, on newsstands now, and online at Restaurants.WineSpectator.com, where visitors can search and access exclusive content on the more than 3,700 restaurants. The full list is also available for free on iOS via the Restaurant Awards app, which allows users to look for dining spots in any location with maps, choosing by wine strengths, cuisine type, pricing and more.
