New Head Golf Professional

Naples, FL – December 2017 / Newsmaker Alert / Naples Lakes Country Club has recently announced the selection of Jacob A. Myers, PGA to the position of Head Golf Professional.

Myers began his golfing career at Naples Lakes at the entry-level position of starter/ranger in 2009. He had just graduated from the Golf Academy of America, Myrtle Beach Campus. During the seven years that followed, he enjoyed increasing levels of responsibility, rising to First Assistant Professional. He also completed continuing education courses to earn the PGA professional designation.

In September 2016, Myers was named to his first Head Professional position at the new Bonita National Golf & Country Club. But when long-time Director of Golf Duke Bowen recently left for another area golf course in November 2017, Myers was quickly tapped to fill his golf shoes, returning to Naples Lakes as Head Professional … at the “seasoned” age of 30.

Commented Bryan Roe, General Manager of NLCC, “After a seven-year history with our Club, Jake is extremely well liked and has already established a strong rapport with the majority of our members. He excels at teaching people to play better golf and understands our members’ preferences and the tournaments they most enjoy. Jake is blessed with a strong work ethic and the type of personality whereby people easily gravitate to him. His selection was an easy decision.”

Added Myers, “The timing was perfect. With the new course ready for play in January and a new pro, we are providing our members with a fresh start all around. The members started reaching out to me before I was officially on board, which really made me feel welcome. I am looking forward to launching a new tournament structure and adding new professionals to our growing team.” (He welcomes resumes!)

He admits that he enjoys the different responsibilities of his job – to include club repair and member relations – but teaching is the favorite part of his job.

“We have members from all walks of life and getting to know and learn from them is an added benefit to my job.”

NLCC is the only Arnold Palmer-designed Signature Course in Collier County. Completion of the recent $3.2 million golf course renovation is expected in January 2018 and includes a complete “wall-to-wall” renovation with everything completed at one time.To maintain the Arnold Palmer “signature” designation, the club has worked closely with The Arnold Palmer Design Company senior architect, Thad Layton, during the renovation process.

Located at 4784 Naples Lakes Boulevard, Naples Lakes Country Club is a 490-acre gated golf course and country club community where full membership is included with every residence. For more information, visit NaplesLakesFL.com.
