Syracuse,
NY – May 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / There’s no need to pinch yourself
and you won’t need a million dollars to see Barenaked Ladies play at the
Great
New York State Fair. The band behind hits such as “Pinch Me” and “If
I Had A Million Dollars” will perform at 8:00 p.m. on opening night, Thursday,
August 21, at Chevy Court, Troy Waffner, Acting State Fair Director, announced
Thursday (May 22).
The Canadian group known
for mixing humor into the lyrics of their rock songs celebrated their 25th
anniversary last year. Their shows are also known for their humorous on-stage
banter. Barenaked Ladies, known to fans as BNL, saw their debut major label
studio album hit #1 on the Canadian album chart. Success in America came
with the release of the album Stunt, with the band’s best-known single,
“One Week.” Millions hear the band every week as they perform their theme
song to the hit TV show, “The Big Bang Theory.”
“Barenaked Ladies brings
fun to music and it will make for a fun way to open the New York State
Fair. It’s the beginning of a stellar lineup of music on all of our stages
and I want to encourage every New Yorker to make time to visit the state’s
largest free music festival at your State Fair this year,” said Waffner.
