food and beverage companies will be on hand this Saturday, November 1,
to offer samples of their products at the 2014
Taste NY Harvest Fest in the Horticulture Building at the New York
State Fairgrounds, State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced
Wednesday (October 29). The number of vendors is a strong increase from
the 62 vendors who were at last year’s well-attended event.

“This
strong increase in companies coming to Harvest Fest reflects what we’re
seeing all across the New York as Governor Cuomo’s Taste NY program continues
to make more people aware of this state’s amazing foods and beverages.
Together, we are driving economic growth and finding new favorites for
our kitchens,” said Commissioner Ball.
“Harvest Fest is another
way for the New York State Fairgrounds to accomplish its core mission –
promote the best of New York agriculture. These companies are doing what
people have done for centuries – they’re sharing with their neighbors a
favorite recipe. When you come to Harvest Fest, you help small businesses
thrive and you create a stronger sense of community here in New York State,”
said Troy Waffner, Acting Director of the Great New York State Fair.
The festival takes place
in two sessions on Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and from 4:00
p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Admission is $15 by advance sale or $20 at the door. Tickets
can be purchased in person at the State Fair Administration Building, by
phone at 315-487-7711 weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by faxing
an order form to 315-487-9260. The order form can be downloaded from the
Harvest Fest website at www.nysfair.org/harvestfest.
Orders placed by phone or fax can be picked up at the door during the event.
Each ticket is good for only one of the two sessions, and you will be asked
to choose the session for which you are purchasing the ticket. Cash, Visa,
and Mastercard are accepted. Tickets are non-refundable, cannot be exchanged,
and cannot be replaced if lost.
The vendors comprise a list
of well-known brands as well as many emerging companies. Attendees can
taste free samples at any booth. Most vendors will also sell their products.
Paid admission includes a complimentary glass for those with proper identification,
which allows an attendee to receive adult beverage samples. Food will be
available for sale in the building’s quick-serve restaurant.
