OBX Media creates mobile-optimized site and refreshes brand for popular
Outer Banks town, helping visitors and residents better access information and navigate the area.

Manteo, NC – July 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Outer Banks Media (OBX Media), a North Carolina-based digital marketing agency specializing in website design, search engine optimization and internet marketing, announced the new website launch for the Town of Duck, a popular beach vacation destination located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Town of Duck offers a brand new user-friendly website for residents and visitors who are looking for information and events in and around the area.

Duck is Dare County’s northernmost community, and one of the most popular resort destinations on the east coast. Incorporated on May 1, 2002, Duck is also the Outer Banks’ newest town. This sound-to-sea community offers to visitors a number of outdoor recreational activities, summer events and concerts, fine dining, world-class shopping, a beautiful beach and breathtaking sunsets. The town’s previous website was difficult to view on a mobile device, which made it challenging for visitors to access information on the go. The town also managed events and activities externally, making scheduling and planning cumbersome. The municipality desired a more modern design that accurately represented the town. The goals for the site were to promote proper brand awareness and to ultimately provide a positive user experience, reminiscent of the experience visitors of the town often enjoy.

OBX Media designed a mobile-responsive website on the WordPress platform. This gave the town freedom to update the site on its own, including full management of their online event calendar. Eye-catching colors combined with stunning images of the area and fun-filled activities added a warm and welcoming feel to the site, showcasing the beauty of the town and appealing to residents and visitors alike. Navigation was simplified by restructuring menus to quickly direct site visitors based on whether they are vacationers, current residents or local business owners, providing a better user experience for everyone. Also readily available on the site is information regarding specific town committees and departments, which is able to be easily managed internally by town administrators.

“We were pleased with the work of Outer Banks Media in creating the new Town of Duck site. The ability to have a modern and mobile-friendly website that allows us to highlight our social media channels and programs to residents and visitors has been great, and public feedback has been positive!” said Denise Walsh, Director of Public Information, Marketing & Events at the Town of Duck.

“We wanted them to have everything under one roof with secure and easy to navigate pages,” said C.K. Evans, President of OBX Media. “We designed an up-to-date, professional website that empowered their team and offered essential information to home owners, businesses, visitors and even people moving to the area.” Evans added.
