Back To News/PR Index | Pebble Beach Resorts Kicks Off 2019 U.S. Open Countdown with Logo Unveiling | The United States Open Championship returns to Pebble Beach Golf Links for its sixth playing in 2019 | | The 119th U.S. Open Championship will be conducted June 13-16, 2019, and the prestigious major will be the 13th USGA championship at Pebble Beach: five U.S. Amateurs (including the upcoming 2018 U.S. Amateur), two U.S. Women’s Amateurs and the aforementioned five U.S. Opens. The 2019 U.S. Open will also bring together the USGA and Pebble Beach to celebrate their second centennial together—the USGA conducted its 100th U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in 2000, and Pebble Beach Golf Links will ring in its centennial in 2019. “We are honored to host our sixth U.S. Open Championship, especially during our centennial, and we are equally proud to continue our very special and storied relationship with the USGA,” said Bill Perocchi, Chief Executive Officer of Pebble Beach Company. “This logo, in our opinion, makes the perfect statement in honoring the unique spirit of our nation’s championship.” The 2019 logo, which symbolizes the great tradition of America’s championships at Pebble Beach, features the red, white and blue colors of our nation’s flag, with six stripes representing the six U.S. Opens at Pebble Beach. The Lone Cypress has been the defining symbol of Pebble Beach since its founding in 1919, and it stands as proudly on a rich golfing tradition as it does on its rocky promontory just a short drive from the courses at Pebble Beach Resorts. The logo will appear on all 2019 U.S. Open merchandise that will be available for purchase beginning in 2017. The USGA has a long history of championships at Pebble Beach, and the course has been the site of many of golf’s greatest major moments – dating back to the 1929 U.S. Amateur when the fledgling Pebble Beach Golf Links was barely 10 years old. Jack Nicklaus first played – and won at – the course during the 1961 U.S. Amateur and paired that victory with a U.S. Open title in 1972, to become the only golfer to win the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open at the same venue. While tickets to the 2019 U.S. Open are not yet for sale, Pebble Beach Company is already selling hospitality packages, which will guarantee tickets for those participating groups.
