Waterfront Festival Celebrates
Toronto’s
Revitalized Waterfront in Summer 2015
|
Three days
of dance, live entertainment, dog championships,
Wine &
Spirits Fest and more along the new Queens Quay
|
Toronto,
ON – January 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / Visitors and residents of Toronto
are invited to celebrate the end of construction and the much anticipated
opening of Queens Quay -Toronto’s newly revitalized waterfront boulevard
– this June 19-21, 2015 at the Redpath
Waterfront Festival (RWF). The RWF is proud to be
part of the official launch of Toronto’s redeveloped Queens Quay Boulevard,
which includes a spectacular new pedestrian promenade and waterfront connection
for the Martin Goodman Trail.
“From
its inaugural event in 2010, to one that currently attracts hundreds of
thousands of visitors annually, the Redpath Waterfront Festival
is the perfect event to help us celebrate the launch of Toronto’s revitalized
Queens Quay Boulevard,” commented Kevin Currie, Chair of The Waterfront
BIA.
Opening
Parade and Party on the Promenade
The
festivities begin on Friday, June 19, 2015, with a Parade along Queens
Quay Boulevard and an Opening Celebration in HTO Park. The festival
will continue throughout the weekend with The Waterfront BIA’s Party
on the Promenade. Pop-up entertainment pods of live music, arts in
motion, waterfront lifestyle activations and professional buskers will
mark the boulevard from Bay to Spadina.
DANCE
Pan American Style!
One
of the featured programs for this year’s festival is DANCE Pan American
Style! Visitors will be moving to the beat in HTO Park with all things
Swing on Friday night and Latin Heat on Saturday. Dance lessons will be
offered each day by celebrity instructors (names to be announced in the
coming months), and live bands performing each night for festival goers
to show off their new dance moves.
DockDogs®
Championships
Families
and their pups can jump for joy as the DockDogs® Championships,
presented by Toronto Port Authority, returns to Sherbourne Common.
See dogs jump, dive, soar and splash for top scores throughout the weekend.
New for 2015 is a Pet Fest Marketplace with pet vendors and food.
Wine
& Spirits Fest
RWF
is excited to partner with the Toronto Wine & Spirit Festival for a
second year at Sugar Beach. Experience wine samples, craft beers, pairing
seminars and some of the world’s finest spirits. Sun, sand, live music
and an incredible waterfront view makes it the best place to kick off the
summer.
RWF
Shuttle
An
RWF Shuttle, courtesy of RBC, will be introduced in 2015 to help navigate
the 2km stretch of the festival. This free shuttle will stop along Queens
Quay Boulevard and provide visitors with easy access to all parks and programming.
