Lakeland, FL – October 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / Join the festivities at Aerospace Discovery Weekend (formerly Wings ‘n Things) on the SUN ‘n FUN Convention Campus where for the first time ever an ‘Aerial Display of Aviation Awesomeness’ will be the weekend highlight. Jerry ‘Jive’ Kerby, a fighter pilot at the controls of his RV-8A known as Wild Blue with a maximum speed of over 200 mph, will fly Saturday evening through heart-stopping maneuvers over Lakeland.

Event activities have been enhanced with a MOSI traveling show, Rock Wall, Laser Tag and Geocaching. Students (ages 8-17) have the opportunity to register for their ‘first flight’ at no additional cost above camping or daily registration. Hands-on activities during this weekend event engage students of all ages in a continual learning environment.

Previously known only as a scouting weekend, where badge components can be earned, the event now offers diverse aviation activities to groups of students that will benefit from this aviation experience. Introduce your child to potential new career choices. Make new friends as church groups, families, neighbors, teachers, aunts and uncles gather for the excitement that surrounds aviation. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education is at the forefront of activities at the Aerospace Center for Excellence on the SUN ‘n FUN Convention Campus.
