On Track for Success, by Timothy Schneider, Publisher, SportsTravel
|
Los Angeles, CA – April 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Since 1998, the TEAMS Conference & Expo has served as the gathering place for sports-event organizers and the destinations, hotels and suppliers that want to do business with them. From the beginning, the value of TEAMS has been intertwined with the fact that it’s a sports-centric event. Our “of sports, by sports, for sports” approach is intended to provide sports organizations and sporting events with a distinctive and unique platform—one where the sports market is not just another vertical market segment in the eyes of prospective hosts and suppliers.
|
On Track for Success, by Timothy Schneider, Publisher, SportsTravelConcomitant with this approach, we also pride ourselves on the level of professional education we provide at the TEAMS Conference, particularly those sessions that are specifically designed for sports-event organizers. At TEAMS ’16 in Atlantic City, we’ll be featuring our largest educational program in the 18-year history of TEAMS, with a record six tracks of programming devoted to the health and well-being of the sports-event industry.

Three of the programming tracks at TEAMS ’16 grew from the popularity of individual sessions held at last year’s conference. Last year’s pre-conference, invitation-only session for C-level sports organization executives will grow this year to a full track of sessions tailored to the needs of CEOs and COOs. A session last year on contract law was so highly rated that at TEAMS ’16 we’ll feature an entire track on law and ethics for the sports-event industry. And last year’s standing-room-only session on destination marketing will become an entire track at TEAMS ’16 devoted to the informational needs of host cities.

Of course, the appetite for some topics can never be sated, so at TEAMS ’16 we will once again offer tracks on sports sponsorship, technology and event operations. The subject matter for many of these sessions derives not only from the feedback our attendees provide but also from the latest developments we monitor among sports-industry practitioners.

In addition to these six programming tracks, TEAMS ’16 will feature several general sessions and keynotes, the presentation of the 2016 SportsTravel Awards, numerous social and networking opportunities and, of course, the appointment-based TEAMS Expo. We are also pleased that the National Congress of State Games will be holding its annual convention in conjunction with TEAMS ’16. Each year, nearly 200,000 athletes of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels participate in state games competitions throughout the nation, and an additional 1.2 million spectators attend state games events. State games organizations from all over the country will be participating at TEAMS ’16.

Please make your plans now to attend, exhibit at or sponsor TEAMS ’16, which will be held September 26–29 in Atlantic City. For more information, see the ad on pages 24–25, visit TEAMSconference.com or call 877-577-3700.
