Sean Gleason has been promoted to CEO of Professional Bull Riders Inc. He served as COO for more than 15 years. Former CEO Jim Haworth will become chairman and focus on strategic global initiatives for PBR, which was recently acquired by WME/IMG.

Ryan Hall has been named director of community relations of the College Football Playoff where he serves as the primary liaison with host-community governments and charitable enterprises. Hall previously served as the associate director of academic and membership affairs for the NCAA. Additionally, Britton Banowsky has been named executive director of the College Football Playoff Foundation, the group’s philanthropic initiative. Banowsky has been commissioner of Conference USA for nearly 13 years. He will begin his new role at the CFP Foundation this fall.

Terdema Ussery II has been appointed president of global sports categories at Under Armour, effective September 14. Ussery previously served as president and CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, and prior to that, he was president of Nike Sports Management.

The NCAA and the Indiana Host Committee have unveiled the 2016 NCAA Women’s Final Four logo. The 2016 NCAA Women’s Final Four will mark the third time— along with 2005 and 2011—that Indianapolis has hosted the event.

The U.S. Association of Blind Athletes has received the Bolotin Award, which is presented by the National Federation of the Blind. The award recognizes individuals and organiza- tions working in the field of blindness that have demonstrated leadership and accomplishments toward achieving equality for the blind.

Liz Fitzsimmons has been named executive director of the Maryland Office of Tourism Development. Fitzsimmons most recently served as the office’s director of advertising and communications.

Experience Kissimmee (Florida) has appointed Misty Johantgen as chief operating officer, a newly created posi- tion for the organization. Johantgen will manage day-to-day operations and help Experience Kissimmee as it continues to transition from a public organization to a public/private partnership. Johantgen most recently served as senior vice-president of member relations and support services for Visit Orlando (Florida).

The Anaheim/Orange County (California) Visitor & Convention Bureau has changed its name to Visit Anaheim. The destination includes Anaheim, Garden Grove and the greater Orange County area.

The Sawgrass Grand in Sunrise, Florida, has been named the official hotel partner of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. The newly renovated Sawgrass Grand Sports Complex, which includes two multipurpose fields, will serve as a training facility for the Strikers.

Sites & Venues

Las Vegas and Quebec City have submitted proposals for a National Hockey League expansion team. The Las Vegas team would play at Las Vegas Arena, being constructed on the Strip, and a Quebec team would play home games at Videotron Centre.

The 2016 Invictus Games will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, May 8–12. An international adaptive sporting event for injured active-duty and veteran service members, the games will bring together more than 400 competitors from as many as 14 nations to compete in 10 sports.

The Brooklyn Bike Park has opened in Brooklyn, New York, boasting the first Velosolutions paved pump track in the United States. The venue welcomes all wheeled sports and is home to the Skateboard Supercross Academy.

Visit Panama City Beach (Florida), the St. Joe Co. and the Bay County School Board have announced a public-private partnership to bring a sports village and a K-8 public school to Panama City Beach. The sports facility will have up to 12 multipurpose fields.

The USA Sevens International Rugby Tournament will remain in Las Vegas through 2019. The 2016 tournament will be staged March 4–6.

Providence, Rhode Island, has been awarded the 2016 USA Gymnastics Championships, which will be held June 8–13, with Junior Olympic competition staged at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The junior and senior elite competition will be held at the adjacent Dunkin’ Donuts Center June 10–12.

The 2017 NBA All-Star Game will be staged at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 19. The game will mark the second NBA All-Star celebration in Charlotte.

The 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be held at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington. The event will take place June 9–12.

Maytag and Major League Baseball have announced a partnership that makes Maytag the official washer and dryer of MLB in 2015. Maytag has also teamed up with four MLB teams: the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers.

Golden 1 Credit Union and the Sacramento Kings have announced a naming rights partnership establish- ing Golden 1 Center as the name for Sacramento’s entertainment and sports center, scheduled to open in the fall of 2016.The partnership includes benefits for Golden 1 members, such as venue tours and ticket discounts.

The NFL and Tottenham Hotspur have announced a 10-year partnership that will include a minimum of two NFL games per year at the English Premier League team’s new stadium in London. The stadium is expected to open in the summer of 2018.

U.S. Bank and the Minnesota Vikings have announced a 20-year partnership for the exclusive naming rights of the Vikings’ new stadium in downtown Minneapolis. Construction on U.S. Bank Stadium is expected to be complete in 2016.U.S. Bank and the Vikings have also announced a “Places to Play” program, a multiyear, $1 million statewide investment in locations for Minnesota youth to play.

Fifth Third Bank has been named the official bank of Daytona International Speedway. Fifth Third Bank will place its ATMs at the speedway beginning in 2016, and it will serve as the official partner of the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola Sprint Cup Series races.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the Club Champions League have announced a Ill-year partnership. The NSCAA will have a stronger presence at CCL events and provide enhanced coaching education opportunities for CCL clubs.

Glory and Hayabusa have signed a multiyear equipment deal. Under the terms of the agreement, Hayabusa will serve as the official in-ring glove of the kickboxing league.

And Finally...

Ann Arbor, Michigan, has been named the best swim city in America, according to a study commissioned by USA Swimming and Speedo USA.Each city’s ranking is based on an aggregate score in categories including the number of active swimmers and swim clubs, accessible pools and volume of elitelevel swimmers from the area.
