| That’s one of our objectives with every issue of SportsTravel. And it’s been our objective since the launch of SportsTravel, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017. In the coming year, our editorial content will examine the key trends that will affect sports-event organizers. This content, along with our Sports Spotlight and destination features, news sections, interviews with industry leaders and expert columns will keep you abreast of the things you need to know to make your organization and events more successful. Here’s a sampling of what we have in store: In January, we will turn our attention to football, including the Super Bowl’s return to Houston and the NFL’s revamp of the Pro Bowl in Orlando. In February, we will explore trends in winter sports, where destinations across the country are getting a new look from organizers interested in hosting events. The March issue will look at preparations for one of Major League Baseball’s major international events, the World Baseball Classic, while the April issue will explore the latest trends in events for both tennis and golf. And in May/June, we will examine what goes into producing one of the most challenging events in the industry, the America’s Cup. In July, we’ll dive deep into action sports, where venerable events like the ESPN X Games are getting a fresh start in a new host city and the UCI BMX World Championships returning to the United States for the first time in more than 15 years. Also in the July issue, look for our annual DMAI special supplement, which will explore some of the major trends in the meetings and events industry. In August, we’ll look at one of the major growth opportunities for competitive events with an examination of the future of e-sports. In September, we’ll show ways cities can get involved with reality-based sports programs that can show off a city’s assets like never before. In the October/November issue, we’ll explore how sporting events for veterans are making a major difference in people’s lives and in December, we’ll offer the latest look at the ever-growing sport of lacrosse. For 20 years, we have taken great pride in serving as a trusted source of valued content for our readers and attendees, whether it’s in the pages of SportsTravel or at our live events such as the TEAMS Conference & Expo. As you make your plans for 2017, be sure your calendar includes TEAMS ’17, which will be held October 30– November 2 in Orlando. On behalf of everyone who works to bring you SportsTravel and TEAMS, we would like to thank you for your support. Best wishes for a happy holiday season and a successful year ahead!
