San
Francisco, CA – December 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / Mornings just got
a whole lot healthier thanks to Sun Basket (SunBasket.com),
the new healthy cooking service that delivers the best organic, non-GMO
ingredients and delicious, easy-to-make recipes weekly to your door.
Sun Basket has announced that it will offer fast, nutritious breakfasts
as part of its weekly subscription plan. Sun Basket, which has raised $4.5
million in venture funding from top-tier early-stage investors, including
PivotNorth Capital and Baseline Ventures, is the first service of its kind
to offer breakfast.
Developed
by San Francisco top chef Justine Kelly (former head chef at The Slanted
Door, a James Beard Award-winning restaurant) in partnership with Sun Basket’s
in-house nutritionist, Kaley Todd, Sun Basket’s healthy breakfasts are
quick to make (most take less than 5 minutes), delicious to eat, and designed
to deliver sustained energy throughout the day. For the same price, customers
can substitute two breakfasts for one dinner, providing even more options
for Sun Basket customers. Weekly delivery options now include:
-
Three
dinner recipes
-
Two dinners
and two breakfasts
-
One dinner
and four breakfasts
“Sun Basket
saves busy people the time of planning and shopping so they can focus on
the fun part of cooking and enjoying the meal,” said Sun Basket founder
and CEO Adam Zbar. “By offering breakfast, our subscribers who are too
busy to prepare three dinners per week now can customize their weekly meal
plan to even better fit their lifestyles and keep eating healthy all day
long.”
Delicious
and fast to prepare, Sun Basket’s breakfast recipes include Coconut-almond
smoothie, Roasted-pepper spinach frittata, Scrambled egg with smoked salmon
and chive, Overnight chia pudding with cinnamon apples, Almond milk-medjool
date shake with cardamom, and more.
“For
optimum nutrition throughout the day, you always want to start with a healthy
breakfast,” said Sun Basket’s Kaley Todd, a registered dietitian and culinary
nutritionist. “But this doesn’t mean grabbing a 500 calorie muffin and
a cup of coffee, which far too many Americans do! In fact, research shows
eating a high sugar/high carbohydrate breakfast can be detrimental in terms
of appetite control and snacking later on in the day. We developed Sun
Basket breakfast recipes to deliver huge nutritional power. And most take
only five minutes to prepare!”
Continued
Zbar, “Thanks to a steady diet of afternoon burgers and fries and late
night pizza, I found myself 50 pounds overweight after I launched my first
start up. My vital signs were going in the wrong direction and my doctor
told me I had to make a big change. So, I gave up processed food and started
eating healthy, balanced meals. A primary reason for my weight loss was
consistently eating breakfast. It curbed my appetite so I was able to eat
healthy for the rest of the day.”
