| New Trilogy® at Lake Frederick Clubhouse Brings Decades-Long Project to Completion | Parent company Shea Homes® stepped in after previous developer faced financial problems | “We could not be more excited to finally deliver on the promise of the Lake Frederick area,” said Jason King, general manager of Shea Homes, who is now based in the area. “When we first looked into the Shenandoah Valley, we knew that it had potential to be a world-class, active-adult community, but it was a matter of getting all the details right.” Developers have sought to bring upscale amenities to the area around the 117-acre lake since the 1990s, but various issues delayed construction for years. Most recently, a previous developer ran into trouble during the 2008 financial crisis, which lead to five years of uncertainty until Shea Homes agreed to complete the club. After taking over what was little more than an empty shell, Shea Homes added $11.5 million to complete the project. The redesign of the new club under Shea came after an 18-month community-wide re-envisioning process including eight focus groups involving many of the 232 people already living in the community. After taking over the project, Shea Homes redesigned what is now a 36,000-square-foot Shenandoah Lodge & Athletic Club and on-site Region’s 117 restaurant, adding such details as a timber frame deck made with solid Douglas fir beams using old-world techniques. The lodge also offers world-class amenities often found in active-adult communities such as pickle ball, a culinary studio, and an on-site golf simulator. The lodge, athletic club and restaurant are designed to serve as the social and activity hub of the community, bringing active-adult residents together with fine food and wine from the greater Virginia region. The restaurant, which is open to the public, features locally sourced ingredients, including apples, cherries, seasonal vegetables and herbs grown on site in a Chef’s Garden just steps away. Residents have the option to rent a wine locker and private space to hold their own dinner party events while enjoying the Inglenook, a tavern bar, and The Market Place general store, which sells local gifts and gourmet food items. “There’s
nothing like this in the mid-Atlantic region,” added King. “We think that
Trilogy at Lake Frederick is changing the game. Active baby boomers looking
for that next step will now be able to find one with all the natural advantages
of the heart of the Shenandoah along with top-notch amenities. It is literally
the best of both worlds.”
