Opportunity to Redesign Shenendoah Golf Course

The new location of the resort’s 300,000 square foot luxury retail
expansion leads to an exciting redesign of its popular Shenendoah golf course

Verona, NY – January 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Turning Stone Resort Casino’s luxury retail expansion, slated to break ground in spring 2016, is opening the door for more exciting changes at the resort next year. The new location of The Outlets at Turning Stone, which will now be on the north side of the resort, is providing an opportunity to redesign the resort’s popular Shenendoah golf course. World-renowned golf course designer Rick Smith, who designed Shenendoah when it opened in 2000, has been brought back to redesign the course in partnership with Turning Stone.

Turning Stone’s golf and grounds teams are taking advantage of the unusually warm weather to prepare the grounds for the redesign. Preliminary clearing and shaping of the grounds has already begun and construction will begin in the spring. The grand reopening of Shenendoah is planned for fall 2016.

With the redesign, Turning Stone and Smith have the goal of making Shenendoah a top 100 golf course, alongside Turning Stone’s Atunyote and Kaluhyat which are already ranked as top 100 courses. With three top 100 ranked courses, Turning Stone would join the prestigious list of only four other resorts that have this distinction – Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Kohler, and Bandon Dunes.

The catalyst for the exciting changes at Shenendoah golf course is Turning Stone’s $100 million luxury retail expansion. Due to the number of interested tenants, Turning Stone had to move the location of the retail space to the north side of the resort in order to accommodate a larger footprint. The luxury retail outlets will now be connected to Turning Stone’s Exit 33 entertainment venue.

The Outlets at Turning Stone will feature a mix of 60 luxury brand retailers, more than 15,000 square feet of dining options, a six-screen movie theater, a deluxe bowling alley, and impressive designer features including fountains with daily water shows.

Construction of the retail expansion is planned for the spring, which will create more than 600 new jobs. An additional 500 full and part time jobs will be created when the retail space is completed.

Turning Stone has partnered with the Gordon Group on developing luxury retail venue. The firm cemented its global reputation by creating The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, which became the number one performing entertainment-retail project in the entire United States, and played a key role in transforming Las Vegas from a gambling town into one of the greatest attractions and vacation destinations in the world.
