Verona, NY – January 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The Oneida Nation’s Turning Stone Resort Casino announces the appointment of Ron Ross as Executive Chef. In his new position, Ross will oversee and direct the food and beverage operations at the resort’s varied dining establishments, including Wildflowers, TS Steakhouse, Tin Rooster, Pino Bianco, and Upstate Tavern, as well as all of Turning Stone’s event catering. Ross is a nationally respected, innovative chef with over 36 years of culinary experience at luxury resort restaurants including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Caesars in Atlantic City, The Borgata Hotel/Water Club, and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. His culinary achievements will bring a new dimension to the award-winning restaurants and catering operations at Turning Stone Resort.

Most recently, Ross was the Culinary Corporate Director and General Manager of Catering Operations for Di Bruno Brothers in Philadelphia. In this position, Ross managed culinary operations, catering sales staff, logistics for five retail stores, and corporate and event catering where he increased catering revenue by 35 percent. Previously, Ross was the Executive Chef at the Borgata Hotel Water Club & Spa for 10 years and was personally sought out by Steve Wynn’s renowned executive committee at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, MS to direct the turnaround and growth of 14 unique restaurants, in-room dining and banquet and catering services.

“From our partnership with Las Vegas restaurant strategist Elizabeth Blau, to reimagining some of our older restaurants, we’ve taken tremendous strides over the past few years to enhance our dining options,” said Oneida Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter. “We are committed to creating a world-class dining experience at Turning Stone and with Ron as our executive chef, we’re confident we’ll continue to exceed guests’ expectations at all our restaurants.”

Turning Stone features an eclectic mix of more than 20 award-wining, fine- and casual dining restaurants including the elegant Wildflowers Restaurant that offers a unique culinary experience with perfectly orchestrated cuisine. As part of a major investment in 2013, the Oneida Nation, with the guidance of Elizabeth Blau, founder of the acclaimed strategic restaurant planning company Blau + Associates of Las Vegas, expanded and upgraded Turning Stone’s dining offerings, including TS Steakhouse, a penthouse restaurant with breathtaking 360 degree views, Upstate Tavern, where the local brews and made-from-scratch culinary inspirations are New York-inspired, time-honored American classics, and Exit 33’s Tin Rooster, a country western themed barbeque restaurant that quickly emerged as a leader for the best brisket, pulled pork and smoked ribs in Central New York.

Turning Stone Resort Casino recently received several prestigious awards and honors, including three AAA Four Diamond awards in 2014, accolades granted to less than four percent of the organization’s approved properties. Awarded to The Lodge at Turning Stone, the Tower Hotel, and Wildflowers Restaurant, these honors distinguish Turning Stone as the only resort in New York State with three AAA Four Diamond venues at one property. Wildflowers Restaurant was also ranked in the Top 10 Most Romantic Restaurants in New York in 2014 by OpenTable diners. Ross’s leadership will ensure that the resort continues to fulfill the high expectations and standards for award-winning service set by the Oneida Nation.

A graduate of the renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Ross is a three-time James Beard award recipient and guest of the James Beard House. He also hosted James Beard’s birthday celebration, with proceeds going to scholarships for aspiring food professionals.
