The tourism study noted that the region’s visitor spending continued to rise in 2013 to a total of $1.9 billion. Oneida County represents 61 percent of those sales for the eight-county Central New York Vacation Region. Each industry sectors also remained steady or increased within Oneida County, including many related to Turning Stone such as lodging, recreation, food and beverage, and retail and service.

Since 1993, the Oneida Indian Nation has spent more than $2 billion on vendors, generated $155 million in income, property and sales tax revenue for the surrounding community; and now supports more than 6,100 jobs in New York State.

Turning Stone hosts more than 4.5 million visitors each year at its four-season destination resort, and is one of the top five tourist destinations in the state of New York. The resort’s sprawling 3,400 acre facility offers award-winning hotels and restaurants, lavish amenities, professional-level golf courses, vast entertainment options, and, in 2016, a luxury retail outlet and entertainment complex.

“It is a source of great pride for the Oneida Indian Nation and Turning Stone to be at the heart of an economic rebirth for this region,” said Oneida Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter. “For decades, we have been dedicated to building up our local economy by creating jobs in Oneida County, utilizing regional vendors, supporting local tourism initiatives and offering world-class attractions to draw visitors to the area. For the Oneida Nation, this is the historic homeland of our people, and we want to create an economic engine that will sustain this area for generations to come.”
