Poplar Bluff, MO – October 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / When United Parks purchased Hydro Adventures water park in 2014, it did so with the promise to not only revive it, but to transform it into a premier Missouri destination. The 2016 season saw the leading national amusement park operator take one of the most significant steps to date toward that reality with the addition of two major new attractions that align United Parks’ plan to transform Hydro Adventures into “two parks in one”.

2016 Season Gives Revived Hydro Adventures ''Something for Everyone''The 2016 additions of a 55-foot high, 1,700-foot long Galaxy 500 steel rollercoaster, and a family favorite “Scrambler” ride solidified Hydro Adventures’ status as a premier amusement park and family entertainment center, which also features an outstanding waterpark with a wave pool, lazy river, mat slides, tube slides, a body slide, and children’s area. The park’s vastly improved boardwalk-style midway was also a 2016 crowd-pleaser, with two roller coasters, five attractions, batting cages, mini golf and the region’s only Go-Karts attraction. Additional improvements to Hydro Adventures’ boardwalk included construction of the “Good Time Gilligan’s Oasis” beach themed bar, which considerably enhanced the park’s food and beverage selection.

“United Parks’ continuous investments have transformed Hydro Adventures into Southeast Missouri’s best option for family fun,” said Barrett Byers, general manager of Hydro Adventures. “The ‘two parks in one’ concept is central to our long-term vision for Hydro Adventures, as is our commitment to safety, cleanliness, creativity, and attention to detail. The concept attracts a broader customer base and extends our season into autumn, when the weather may still be warm enough to attract visitors.”

For the 2017 season, United Parks will continue to build upon the recent improvements with a capital investment focused on the main building and arcade, which will increase value-added options, extend the park’s schedule and provide guests with additional year-round activities. Changes to Hydro Adventures’ pricing structure will also allow guests to tailor their experience to their family’s needs.

“We’ve really updated every facet of Hydro Adventures over the last two years, and we plan to continue to increase our investment in our stakeholders and add jobs to the community,” Byers said. “To turn a struggling park into a safe, fun and exciting entertainment option for guests of all ages in such a short period of time is a point of pride for all of our staff, and our commitment to continued improvement and maintenance will ensure that Hydro Adventures remains a must-visit destination for years to come.”

In addition to Hydro Adventures, United Parks also operates Daytona Lagoon in Daytona Beach, Fla. – and is poised to become the next operator of historic Rye Playland in Westchester County, N.Y.
