Mark pours on the fun
On
Saturday, April 16, one of the world’s most famous distilleries hosts the
fourth annual Maker’s Mark® Handcraft Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Enjoy a self-guided tour with delicious food and cocktail samples, plus
live musical entertainment during this family-friendly event. Browse among
the artwork and hand-crafted goodies at some of the finest, handpicked
arts-and-craft vendors in the region. Free admission.

“Haggle”
haven on Hwy. 55
Lebanon
and Marion County are on the bargaining byway when the KY Hwy. 55 Yard
Sale gets underway from April 21 through April 24 in these Kentucky counties:
Carroll, Trimble, Henry, Shelby, Spencer, Nelson, Washington, Taylor, Adair
and Russell. Bring your friends and your mad money for 147 miles of sales
and treasure hunting, browsing from among businesses’ and residents’ closets,
garages, attics and basements. Free admission.
Celebrate
Kentucky Writers
Historic
Penn’s Store in nearby Gravel Switch hosts its 20th annual Kentucky Writers’
Day Celebration on Sunday, April 24. This celebration includes a gathering
of Kentucky authors, poets, playwrights and singer/songwriters who will
share their works and perform against the backdrop of the oldest country
store in America being run continuously by the same family. On the National
Registry of Historic Places, this Kentucky Historical Landmark has been
in business since 1850.
The
event emcees are award-winning poet and author Chad Horn and entertainer
Randy Burchfield. Ronn Crowder, a musician who has performed on stage and/or
on recordings with Furry Lewis, Leo LeBlanc, The Hombres, Jerry Lee Lewis
and Bonnie Bramlett, among others, is a special guest. Dr. HR Stoneback,
Distinguished Professor of English at the State University of New York
and Honorary President of the Elizabeth Madox Roberts Society, will present
a special program.
Bobbie
Smith Bryant, Ed McClanahan and award-winning children’s picture book author
Heather Henson are among the many writers appearing. Performances will
include those by poet/songwriter/musician Dawn Lane Osborn, Terry Wooley
and Judge Wolfe, among many others. An afternoon songwriter JAM FEST will
take place 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Plants and herbs by Steve’s Plants will
be for sale throughout the day. Free admission.

Lebanon, KY
Geographically
located in the center of the state, Lebanon
is the “Heart of Bourbon Country,” the epicenter of Kentucky barrel and
bourbon making. Attractions include Maker’s Mark Distillery, Limestone
Branch Distillery, photo op stop Lebanon/Maker’s Mark Water Tower and the
