Christmas in lights
A yesteryear yuletide celebration takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 27, during Lebanon’s Annual Dickens Christmas. Enjoy the official lighting of the Christmas Tree, a Trail of Treats, strolling carolers, live nativity, chili cook-off, refreshments, carriage rides and trackless train rides and other children’s activities. Following the Dickens Christmas Parade starring You Know Who, kids can visit and have photos with Santa.

What began as a hobby is now an extravagant light show with over 1 million lights: The Ruley Holiday Light Show, 6-12 p.m. Dec. 1 through Jan. 1, 2016, is spread over 2 acres and includes the lights plus dozens of holiday displays, including giant stars and wreaths, the Grinch, helicopter and train scenes and more. Warm up inside with a cup of hot cocoa. Relax by the fireplace among a collection of hundreds of cookie jars and all of the Holiday Edition Barbie dolls dating back to the 1980s. 

On Dec. 5 and 12, Maker’s Mark presents its free annual Candlelight Tours from 5-8 p.m. These after-dark tours features bright lights, holiday décor, seasonal cocktails and sweet treats – the perfect way for anyone to get into the spirits of the season.

Christmas on stage
Famous tribute artist Eddie Miles keeps the spirit of Elvis alive during his regular performances at Lebanon’s Angelic Hall at Centre Square. This includes “Elvis Blue Christmas,” which will take place at 8 p.m. on Nov. 27 and 28. Tickets: $29, $25, $20, depending on seat. www.mykct.com, 270-321-0218

Also at Angelic Hall at Centre Square, Kentucky Classic Theatre presents “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” featuring the infamous Herdman clan, bringing its own special brand of mayhem to the classic church Christmas pageant. Tickets: $10/adults; $5/students. www.mykct.com, 270-321-0218

The spotlight is on music on Dec. 6 when the Mid Kentucky Chorus presents its annual holiday concert, the “Beautiful Music of Christmas,” at 3 p.m. on Dec. 6.
