Waterfall Resort Alaska Announces Winners of the
30th Annual King of Kings Salmon Tournament

Waterfall Resort Alaska Announces Winners of the 30th Annual King of Kings Salmon TournamentFrom Kirkland, Washington, return guest Tony Perkins wins $10,000 for reeling in the largest king salmon of the season, 48.2 pounds, plus a 2019 return trip to Waterfall Resort Alaska and a Cabela’s gift certificate.

First year guest, Pat Frazier, from McKinney, Texas, wins the Tournament drawing for a new 2018 Ford F-150 Truck.

First year guest, Andre Burchette of Phoenix, Arizona, wins two 2019 return trips to Waterfall Resort Alaska for his 47.8 pound salmon.

16 year old Evan Gibson wins a 2019 return trip to Waterfall Resort Alaska for largest salmon of season, 39.5 pounds, for a youth.

Michael Gates, Rodney Fogle and Kathy Barry each win $2,500 for Silver of the Month.

“The odds for winning in our King of Kings Tournament are fantastic. We had a total of 1,519 enter over the 3 month period, and a total of 22 people won gifts of Cabela’s certificates, cash, return trips and a Ford F-150 truck. That’s in addition to the daily winners,” shares Ken Dole, partner and President of Waterfall Resort Alaska. “We love the smiles and friendships that fishing at Waterfall Resort Alaska brings, so the more we can do to add to the fun with the excitement of competition, the better!”

As a first year guest, Pat’s 29.9 lb “king of the day” salmon caught with first-year guide Bryan Holtan, qualified her to enter the season-end drawing to become the Grand Prize winner of a 2018 Ford F-150 truck.

“Catching that 30 pound king salmon was worth every bit of effort! We had such a wonderful time. People really took care of you from boat to on shore. Everything was great!” shares Pat Frazier.

Kirkland, Washington, resident Tony Perkins is winner of Waterfall Resort’s 30th annual King of Kings Salmon Tournament with his hefty 48.2 pound king caught July 16 with guide Mark. Perkins has been a guest for three years straight at Waterfall Resort Alaska.

“The real win is just being able to go up there each year,” shares Tony Perkins. “I look forward to it every year with my boss, Dan Rowe of Evergreen Ford, and now, next year is free!”

Return trips to Waterfall Resort Alaska are also awarded to the youth winner and to the winners of the largest king salmon each week.

Additional cash prizes of $2,500 go to tournament entrants who landed the largest silver salmon (coho) for each month of the contest. The 2018 winners are:

  • June: Michael Gates of DeSilva Gates Construction, a returning guest from Danville, California,
  • July: Rodney Fogle of Fogle Pump and Supply, a returning guest from Colville, Washington,
  • August: Kathy Barry a new guest from Lansing, Kansas.
At Waterfall Resort, expert guides lead guests on daily fishing expeditions for king salmon (Chinook), silver salmon (coho), Pacific halibut, lingcod, rockfish, and more. Each day’s fishing ends with tournament ticket holders weighing their kings in hopes of winning “King of the Day.”

Tickets to enter the Tournament are an optional purchase for guests. The biggest King of the Day of the entire season lands the angler the “King of Kings” title and the $10,000 cash prize.. In addition, all daily winners qualify for the end-of-season Grand Prize drawing for the new Ford F-150 truck.
